Generations of Ripples

So I’ve been pretty emotional since yesterday. My mom has been on my mind and I find the tears just falling. I couldn’t figure out where it’s coming from. And now I do. Yesterday I was able to tell my son that his adoption is FINALLY actually happening. That his biological dad signed his part … Read more

EMPATHY VS. ENABLING

How can you have empathy towards your addict without enabling? In some situations the two seem to intertwine. When you find out someone close to you has an addiction, many of us have the initial reaction of: How could you do this? But in reality we should be asking: Why would you do this? Now … Read more

A Message to Parents Through a Child’s Eyes

Children are a gift from above

God gave them to you to be showered with love

Some choose not to be there and leave them alone

But what they don’t realize is one day they’ll be grown

All this time they’ll never get back

These children will be bitter and that’s a fact

That parent held responsible for their heart so cold

But one day they’ll tell you-so bold

They’ll ask “Where were you when I needed you?”

“I wasn’t just some kid, I needed you too!”

“All those nights I stayed up and cried”

“And you weren’t the one there wiping my eyes”

“Someone else took the opportunity and filled that empty space”

“Even though I knew, no one could take your place”

“But now I’m not crying for you to be here”

“I realize you made a choice, made so clear”

“Living your life was more important than shaping mine”

“And as you can see I made it. Grown and Fine”

“And after today I don’t want to see you again”

“I’m no longer your child, don’t even wanna be your friend”

See parents it’s easy to SAY you’ll be there

But how many of you are actually aware

That your kids are growing and learning every day

When your child asks these questions what will you say?

This is one thing you won’t be able to lie your way out

Because they’ll remember who was there without a doubt

Evaluate your relationship, make it right

You never know if tonight is the night

That your child will say” I’m finished, you weren’t there”

“You made no effort and now I don’t care”

“A person like you I don’t need”

“All you worried about was YOUR mouth to feed”

“I’m leaving now, I’m walking away”

“Going meet who was there for me every day”

“Paint a pretty picture for someone who doesn’t know”

“I have my own life, see ya, gotta go”

Love an Addict, but Love Yourself More

Reports show that over 20 million people nationwide suffer from drug & alcohol abuse. How alarming! If I take a look at my own situation, for one addict in my family there are at least 10 people directly affected by her death. So simple math would show that if this were true for every one of … Read more
